Common uses of multifunctional power instruments

Most terminals encounter various problems when using multifunctional power meters. With work experience, it is easy to find solutions to these problems, but some beginners may not be able to solve them. They have specially asked the technical after-sales service to organize some common usage problems.

1. Do instruments need to be connected to transformers when measuring current

  The current measurement range of the instrument is AC0-5A, and the voltage measurement range is AC0-450V. If the current measurement range exceeds the instrument measurement value, a transformer needs to be installed to measure by changing the display ratio of the instrument.

2. Selection of installing transformers

   When measuring the line current from AC0-100A, a current of 100/5A needs to be selected, and then the display ratio on the instrument needs to be changed to 100, so that the line current can be detected in real time and displayed in real time. In addition, when purchasing transformers, it is necessary to purchase products with high accuracy level, preferably with a precision level of 0.5 or above.

3. Instrument working power supply

  Electronic instruments require a working power supply during operation, and multifunctional power instruments operate at AC90-265V/50Hz

4. Alarm output function

  When the load has a stable working current, the upper and lower limits of the working current of the load appliance can be set on the instrument. When the working current of the load appliance exceeds the set value, the instrument outputs a passive switch control signal, which is used to control the main switch to disconnect the power supply, ensuring that the load appliance is not damaged.

5. Can the instrument measure three-phase three wire system

   The multifunctional power instrument can be directly set to a three-phase three wire system in the functional settings, and then wired according to the provided wiring method, so that the three-phase three wire system electricity can be directly measured. You can also set this function for you before leaving the factory.

6. Can the communication baud rate be modified

  The baud rate for commonly used communication is 9600, but it can also be set to 1200,2400,4800,9600,19200,38400. It is recommended to use a baud rate of 9600.


7. Instrument classification:

    Classified by display: pointer type, digital tube display, LCD screen display, and dot matrix LCD screen display

   Classified by measurement purposes: including voltmeter, ammeter, metering meter, power meter, frequency meter, temperature meter, harmonic meter, power factor meter, phase sequence meter, tachometer, and comprehensive multifunctional meter

Classified by measurement circuit: there are single-phase instruments, three-phase instruments, and three-phase four wire instruments

   According to the type of measurement power supply, there are: AC instruments, DC instruments

According to the measurement accuracy level, there are seven levels: 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 5.0. The smaller the number, the smaller the error of the instrument, and the higher the accuracy level of the instrument.

  According to the working principle, there are: magneto electric instruments (C), electromagnetic instruments (T), electric instruments (D), and induction instruments (G). The ammeter and voltmeter used in DC circuits belong to magneto electric instruments, while the watt meter used to measure load power belongs to electric instruments and induction instruments used to measure electrical energy.
